Today, we will look back at the heroes who founded the Greater Seattle Filipino-American Seventh-day Adventist Church. Throughout our history, several key individuals have played pivotal roles in building our church’s foundation. We honor them by sharing their stories, remembering their contributions with gratitude and respect.
Florendo Inovejas:
Florendo Inovejas was born in Claveria, Cagayan on March 27, 1928.
He studied at Mountain View College In Valencia, Bukidnon, Philippines, furthered his studies at the University of Washington, and subsequently landed a job with Boeing company until he retired.
He married Salome Inovejas, who is a cousin of the wife of elder George Atiga, and they are blessed with two children.
He was instrumental in founding this church along with his wife, Salome.
Both Salome and Flor Inovejas were active in their roles as Salome was head deaconess while he was the first head elder in our church.
He is known for his actions, which speak louder than his words, for he is soft-spoken and very patient, yet countless people benefited from his counsel and generosity.
Tatang’s actions commanded respect because he had an incredible knack for staying calm no matter what challenges he faced.
He accurately measured a man, demonstrating how much love he gave, how selflessly he shared whatever he could to help others, and how consistently he lifted those around him with kind words and funny jokes.
He exemplified the true spirit of servanthood as he served the Lord with humility.
Tatang passed away at the age of 95 on October 23, 2023.
